On April 29, some of RAS’s grade 11 students were given the opportunity to attend the final day of the Culture Summit, thanks to our passionate Art Teacher, Miss Wardah Ambreen Sheikh, which is a global event hosted by the Department of Culture and Tourism in the Saadiyat Cultural District. Although the summit ran from April 27 to 29, our school attended only the final day. It may have been the last day, but it was far from the least exciting! When we arrived, one of the event organizers welcomed our teacher, Miss Warda, and gave us a quick rundown of the day’s agenda. The conferences and workshops covered exciting topics such as using AI as a creative tool (rather than viewing it as a future threat). Additionally, the talks also encompassed topics like discovering new ways to express art and how modern engineering and design are reshaping society as a whole.
The venue was visually stunning. Some sections were lit up with vibrant colors, while others showcased minimalist, modern style. One area even featured an international art supply store, filled with paints, canvases, brushes, and other artistic materials from around the world. Half way through the event, we were treated to a free buffet breakfast and coffee. While we ate, a traditional Liwa dance performance took place, exuding the lively and authentic spirit of Emirati culture. On the social side, we had the chance to meet people from different countries and engage in meaningful conversations. The diversity of the place was definitely evident everywhere. Overall, the trip really was a meaningful experience and undeniably entertaining. We’re incredibly grateful to our school for giving us the chance to attend.
