Ramadan is the Islamic month of fasting and prayer. Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset, which entails avoiding foods and drinks. It strengthens faith and encourages islamic behavior, like giving charity, being nice to people, and consistently reading quran. In our Royal American school, an event was held from kindergarteners to grade 4 students. This article will go through what happened in the day.
The students came to school dressed in traditional Emirati clothes (the mukhawar and kandura), which added a sense of fun and creativity while celebrating the UAE culture vibrantly. They went around, giving people dates and a variety of other sweets and snacks. This allowed the children to experience the spirit of the holy month. Excitement and happiness filled the air as the children helped decorating their hallways and classrooms with lanterns, crescent moons, and other Ramadan-themed ornaments.
Overall, at RAS, the celebration of Ramadan was a joyous and culturally enriching experience for the younger ones. The event not only instilled a sense of community and cultural appreciation but also helped foster the values and importance of sharing and gratitude among the children.
